Brief Introduction of School Motto and School Colours

The secondary section was founded in 1916. The Supervisor decided that the School Motto would be “Utmost Goodness and Righteousness”. It is adopted from Deuteronomy 12:28 ‘Be careful to obey all these regulations I am giving you, so that it may always go well with you and your children after you’ and Psalm 25:8 ‘Good and upright is the LORD; therefore he instructs sinners in his ways' from the Old Testament of the Holy Bible. It shows that Pui Ching was founded on Christian doctrine and commandments.

Back in 1917, there were no official School Colours and School Flag. The Supervisor believed that Pui Ching should have its own emblem. Hence, the school colours were decided to be red and blue, which the design of the school flag was based on. Since then, Red and Blue represent the spirit of Pui Ching. Generally speaking, red represents strong passion and an enthusiastic heart while blue represents calmness, witty, and a thought mind and plan.

School Emblem
    • The school badge, which consists of a series of emblematic symbols and characters, denotes the school’s visions in education and the virtues expected from our students.
    • Positioned in the middle of the school badge is the school motto Goodness And Righteousness To The Utmost (至善至正). It is pinned down by the Bible and thus anchored in the name of Jesus, the Rock on which Pui Ching Middle School is established.
    • The red disc symbolises the sun and a passionate heart. While seven is a number often associated with perfection in the Bible, the seven triangular beams of light stretch to the four directions. We are to shine our light in the world just as Jesus and spread the blazing truth of the Bible to the ends of the earth. Our school was founded in 1889.
    • Encompassing the sun, the white square illustrates the principles and standards dictating our actions. The four boundaries of the square also represent the chief virtues related to the four educational aspects – the moral, intellectual, physical and social.
    • The blue disc and the four stars suggest the boundless universe, manifesting our bold visions, glittering in the sky night and day like the stars.
    • The two arcs on the top and at the bottom, inscribed with the school name in both Chinese and English respectively, signify the prosperous development of the school, endeavouring to accomplish the four virtues and to live up to the school motto.
    • The outermost red disc and the square within it remind us to be sophisticated and prudent, amiable and not to compromise our Christian faith and principles.
